Philodendron ‘Bicolor’ is a distinct Philodendron species (not a hybrid), first described in 2012 and native to South America. It is known for its striking color contrast between new and mature foliage. New leaves emerge in vivid shades of red to deep burgundy, then gradually harden off to rich green, creating a true bicolor effect across the plant as multiple growth stages are present at once.
The leaves are elongated and smooth with a slightly leathery texture, and the plant has a climbing growth habit. Vertical support encourages larger leaf development and more mature form. Philodendron bicolor grows best in bright, indirect light with evenly moist, well-draining soil and warm, stable conditions.
