Pothos scandens is a true Pothos species, unlike most plants sold as pothos, which are actually Epipremnum. Native to tropical South and Southeast Asia, it is a slender, climbing vine with papery green leaves and distinctive winged petioles that give each leaf a subtly two-part look. The foliage is slim and lance shaped to softly ovate, typically staying more delicate than common pothos types. In nature, this plant grows as a root-climbing liane and can shingle tightly against surfaces, though it also trails beautifully in cultivation. Flowering and fruiting are rare indoors, but in the wild it can produce small off white flowers and sweet red fruits.
