Alocasia ‘Scalprum’ Aurea Variegated is a cultivated yellow-variegated selection within the Alocasia scalprum complex, recognized for its narrow, blade-like foliage and sharply architectural form. In early growth, plants produce slimmer, compact leaves in deep forest green to slate tones, lightly brushed with soft chartreuse streaking as the variegation begins to express. As the plant matures, the foliage elongates and becomes more sculptural, developing deeper metallic undertones with increasingly defined aurea sectoral and marbled patterning in shades of golden yellow to warm lime. The yellow contrast intensifies against the dark, moody leaf surface, emphasizing the leaf’s textured, almost hammered appearance and giving the plant a bold yet refined presence.
This cultivar performs best in bright, indirect light to maintain strong yellow coloration, along with warm temperatures, elevated humidity, and evenly moist, well-aerated media.
