Oxalis triangularis variegated is a bulbous, clump-forming plant known for its distinctive butterfly-like, three-part leaves that open with light and fold closed in darkness. The deep purple foliage is heavily mottled and splashed with pink, blush, and soft cream, with the amount and pattern of variegation varying from leaf to leaf. New growth can emerge with stronger pink and cream tones before developing into deeper purple as the leaves mature.

Native to Brazil, Oxalis triangularis grows from small underground bulbs and forms compact clusters over time. In cultivation, it performs best in bright, indirect to strong filtered light, which helps maintain its rich coloration and variegation. Keep the soil lightly moist during active growth, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings, and use a well-draining mix to reduce the risk of bulb rot. It appreciates moderate humidity and stable indoor temperatures and may naturally die back into dormancy before resprouting with new growth.
