Named by our founder Jocelyn Ho after Detroit’s iconic island park known as the “Jewel of Detroit,” Philodendron ‘Belle Isle’ is an exceptionally rare hybrid distinguished by deeply lobed foliage and finely serrated margins. The leaves develop a full, ruffled form, with each lobe extending outward to create an intricate, almost fern-like silhouette. As the plant matures, the foliage becomes increasingly pronounced, revealing more depth and texture across the leaf blade and giving the plant a distinctly prehistoric character.
The unusual leaf structure sets ‘Belle Isle’ apart from more typical Philodendron forms, with new leaves gradually unfolding to reveal their characteristic lobing and serration. It maintains an upright growth habit and performs best in bright, indirect light, warm stable temperatures, elevated humidity, and a well-draining aroid mix. A particularly uncommon hybrid with distinctive foliage, ‘Belle Isle’ is a unique selection for collectors drawn to unusual Philodendron forms.
