Philodendron bipennifolium Variegated ‘Violin’ is a rare cultivated form of the classic horsehead philodendron, valued for its deeply lobed, violin-shaped foliage and unpredictable variegation. The leaves emerge in shades of green before developing irregular patterns of cream, pale yellow, or soft lime variegation, ranging from fine marbling and flecking to more defined sectors that shift with each new leaf. As the plant matures, it develops a climbing habit with increasingly large, sculptural leaves that gain more pronounced lobing when given vertical support. Growth is most stable in bright indirect light with a well-aerated, free-draining substrate and consistent moisture. It performs best when allowed to climb and benefits from higher humidity, though it can adapt to typical indoor conditions when other cultural needs are met.
Highly variegated leaves are prone to browning and may be more vulnerable during the shipping process.
