Carnivorous Mix is engineered for specialized bog and predatory plants that require nutrient-depleted, acidic conditions with consistent moisture retention. Built on a classic, mineral-pure foundation, it pairs low-fertility sphagnum peat moss with coarse perlite and inert horticultural sand to keep root zones aerated and prevent substrate compaction during bottom-watering.

Free from added fertilizers, compost, or pH buffers that burn sensitive root systems, this mix provides the clean, free-draining yet evenly wet profile required by insectivorous species. It suits general carnivorous collections—including Venus flytraps, sundews (Drosera), pitcher plants (Sarracenia), and terrestrial bladderworts (Utricularia) that depend on pure, mineral-lean media to thrive.
