Alocasia ‘Venom’ is a rare cultivated Alocasia prized by collectors for its unusual texture, pale silvery coloration, and distinctive elongated leaf tip that curls into a narrow, tail-like form. The leaves are shield-shaped with softly undulating margins, pronounced raised venation, and a lightly puckered surface. Juvenile leaves emerge darker green, but as the plant matures, the foliage develops its signature pale, matte, silvery-green finish, which remains consistent rather than darkening with age. Veins appear slightly lighter than the surrounding tissue, creating subtle contrast without heavy coloration.
This cultivar was discovered around 2019 by Mason Lee of Mason Plants in South Korea as a spontaneous mutation of Alocasia ‘Amazonica’. The name ‘Venom’ refers to the dramatic curled leaf tip, which resembles a tail or fang-like extension. ‘Venom’ has a compact, upright growth habit, typically reaching about 60–90 cm (2–3 ft), and grows from a rhizomatous base. It performs best in bright, indirect light with evenly moist, well-draining soil, warm temperatures, and high humidity, ideally in the 60–80% range, using an airy aroid substrate to support healthy roots.
